As a local to the Carolina coast, Katie from a very young age knew that she had a strong love for animals of all kinds and the beach. Growing up, her family always had animals; dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, even a hedgehog named Luna!. She got her first personal dog her senior year of high school, an Australian Shepherd mix, Malia and the pair bonded from the start. After interning at a veterinarian, volunteering at multiple animal shelters, and working at a boarding and grooming facility, Katie realized that dogs were the path she wanted to take. But what exactly" Grooming, boarding, handling, training" After having some difficulties with Malia, she looked into dog training and that's when she found the Dog Wizard! She was hooked from the start and her goal now is to help every dog and their human have a better understanding and relationship!

"Kayleigh was born in Wilmington NC, but raised mostly in Virginia. She moved back to North Carolina to be closer to family and has since come to the Jacksonville area. Her love for animals started when She was a little kid. Any and all animals, from common pets to exotic animals. She always wanted to learn more about them. Growing up she was around and owned many pets including large and small dogs, cats, horses, birds, and hamsters. She has worked at a few dog daycareboarding facilities and helped in a Vet Clinic. She has three cats and a pit mix named Oso. When looking for Oso to gain better confidence and training, she found The Dog Wizard. "To me dogs are so smart and seeing their minds at work encourages me to help owners and their dogs experience that for themselves.?

I recommend the dog wizard to anyone with difficult or stubborn pets! I tried 3 to 4 different training facilities/companies that were either unable due to bigger case loads with already aggressive dogs, or unfortunately just refused to work with my dog due to his history and age. I found The Dog Wizard through a referral of another company and spoke to Katie who was so incredibly sweet and said she couldn’t believe we had gotten turned away so many times and accepted us immediately! Our trainer was Kayleigh, and she was so patient and loving towards our pup immediately! Our boy Copper had a history of aggressive behavior, he was apprehensive of anyone that wasn’t his immediate family and couldn’t be taken out near other people, or animals because of how nervous he became. We never thought we would be able to take him to the park, or boarding/daycare. Thanks to Kayleigh, and the dog wizard we are able to have him around others, and he was boarded for the first time with other animals, and strangers and did amazing! He has even graduated from needing his muzzle around people that come over to our house, which is a complete 360 from how he used to behave. Our boy Copper became a success story thanks to Kayleigh’s patience, and understanding of his personality. We love the dog wizard and can’t recommend them and and Kayleigh enough!!

After a frustrating hike with my kids and our 70lb golden retriever puppy (who loved to yank me around) I knew I needed professional help! In comes The Dog Wizard.
I told them my concerns/habits I needed help breaking my dog of. Pretzel (my big puppy) would yank while on the leash, bark at other dogs, and the biggest...zero recall if he got out off leash!
Pretzel and I learned so much together on our weekly 1hr private training classes! Our classes started at home and slowly grew to outings to parks and stores.
I am beyond thrilled on how much he has grown and I recommend this dog training company to anyone who asks me "how did you do it, he's so well behaved!"

Kayleigh is helping me with my new puppy and she's fantastic. Explains everything until I know what to do. After Dolly went to jump start and graduated Katie continues to check on her. I'm so delighted with Kayleigh and Katie. I totally recommend them. If you need help with your dog they can and will help. You will not be disappointed

We reached out to the Dog Wizard after a few weeks of having our new blue heeler puppy. She was very different from our male red heeler in the training realm. At first, we reached out because we thought she was extremely stubborn and wasn’t interested in learning. My husband and I even went as far as to ask each other “is she deaf?” many times. But then about a week prior to officially starting our puppy training, we found out (for certain) that she was deaf. We were worried this would change our training or that it would either disqualify us and wouldn’t be as effective. That was not the case at all, Kayleigh was absolutely AMAZING. She had experience with training deaf dogs using hand signals and she was a life saver! She was patient with our pup Cali, my husband and I during this learning phase and I couldn’t appreciate all of her hard work more. She is extremely knowledgeable, reliable and just an all around great person! She was flexible when we had to reschedule a training appointment last minute, and you can truly tell how much she cares for the dogs she is working with. My puppy adored her and loved when she walked through the door! Even now that our training has ended, Kayleigh still checks in and makes sure we don’t have any questions or concerns that she can help with. This further shows her true passion for what she does! I would recommend Kayleigh to anyone looking for dog training, but especially those with deaf pups. She will make a world of difference with your pups behavior, their confidence in themselves and the relationship between you and your pup!

I was recommended by Kayleigh to go to the Dog Wizard and I am so glad I did. Katie did wonders for my mini aussiedoodle Charlie. He had some behavioral issues and needed some confidence building. Katie recommended the 18 day program. I was a little nervous because Charlie is my baby 😊, but Katie kept me well informed and updated me on his progress daily. Katie gave me the tools I needed to furthur Charlie's training and he is doing so great. We love the Socials and the Pack Walks because this gives Charlie more interaction with the other dogs. I want to say "Thank You" to Katie and the Dog Wizard Crew for helping Charlie and I would recommend her to anyone.🥰

The Dog Wizard Jacksonville offers a free evaluation. Most locations will even come to you to do one! This enables our trainers to meet you and your dog, go over your training goals and find a program that works for you. Give us a call and we will help you set one up.
The Dog Wizard trainers are well versed in a variety of training tools; from food to collars to remote collars. We know that not all dogs do well with every tool and we will help you decide what tool is best for your dog as well as what tools you’re comfortable with using. At the end of the day, whatever tool you’re comfortable in using will be the one you’re most consistent in using and that’s what’s most important to us.
It is never too late to start teaching your dog new habits. It will take more time and effort than teaching a new puppy but you will love the outcome.

In order to know how long it will take to train your dog, we will need to do a free consultation. During your consultation, we will get to understand what you are looking to gain from the training as well as evaluate your dog to see what we will need to do to get him where you would like him to be. At that point, we will be able to give you a timeline for his training.
