The Dog Wizard is wonderful and highly recommended. I personally worked with Fin who is amazing. We recently moved and I thought our puppy was broken. He gave me the tools and confidence to train my dog. He helped personalize the training and was always able to support my questions/challenges. My dog received great training along with her feeling more at ease and confident. Both Zara and Fin were responsive, flexible and easy to work with! Their program has many options and offers ongoing support classes for graduates! Thank you Dog Wizard!

We recently worked with Fineas Trujillo at The Dog Wizard. The entire Dog Wizard team was so great to work with. They took the time to understand our needs and what we wanted and tailored the training accordingly. They were very flexible and provided great communication. The office staff was also very helpful. We had a wonderful experience and are super happy with the results. Our dogs enjoyed the training and now have a solid foundation of both verbal and non verbal commands.. We look forward to the ongoing support classes. I highly recommend The Dog Wizzard for any/all dog training needs.

Rufus and I spent six weeks in the Private Freedom program and can honestly say miracles are possible! We have attempted training twice before. Rufus is an anxiety-ridden, border collie mix that we rescued at 4 months and have now had for 4 yrs. Both times it was not only a fail…but potentially a set back in his confidence and certainty mine. The team at Dog Wizard came to our house, spent an hour observing him and talking to us. They followed with a proposal for training that fit our goals - plus my chaotic schedule. A large part of their approach is to train the trainer, not just the dog. Make no mistake, it is a commitment, but the outcome is completely worth it. Not only am I so much closer to Rufus, but I understand him and his needs so much better. The program goes way beyond just “tricks” - but accountability, respect and reward - for us both. I can’t thank Fin enough for his patience and insight. I am already looking forward to the generous amount of follow up programs that The Dog Wizard offers to maintain and augment skills.

Joseph is excellent. He makes the training exercises easy to understand and practice for both dog and owner. Our 8 month old Labrador, Maverick, needed serious on/off leash obedience training. With Joseph's guidance in the "private freedom" program, all aspects of Maverick's behavior have improved tremendously. He's like a different dog now. Great job Joseph and Dog Wizard!

We are so happy we chose The Dog Wizard for our German Shepherd. Our GSD had issues with pulling on walks, lunging when sitting outside, and separation anxiety, so we knew we needed professional training. We scheduled an in-home consultation with Joseph, and after discussing our dog’s needs, he recommended an 8-session training program.

While the price was initially high for us, The Dog Wizard offered a payment plan, making it more affordable for families like ours. Every Thursday, we meet Joseph at a dog-friendly park for training sessions. He is very professional, patient, easy to get along, and always provides helpful tips, making the training process both enjoyable and effective.

We’ve already seen amazing changes in our dog—he’s much calmer during walks and more manageable overall. We look forward to Thursdays not just for our dog’s progress but also for the valuable insights we gain as dog owners.

The Dog Wizard Walnut Creek offers a free evaluation. Most locations will even come to you to do one! This enables our trainers to meet you and your dog, go over your training goals and find a program that works for you. Give us a call and we will help you set one up.
The Dog Wizard trainers are well versed in a variety of training tools; from food to collars to remote collars. We know that not all dogs do well with every tool and we will help you decide what tool is best for your dog as well as what tools you’re comfortable with using. At the end of the day, whatever tool you’re comfortable in using will be the one you’re most consistent in using and that’s what’s most important to us.
It is never too late to start teaching your dog new habits. It will take more time and effort than teaching a new puppy but you will love the outcome.

In order to know how long it will take to train your dog, we will need to do a free consultation. During your consultation, we will get to understand what you are looking to gain from the training as well as evaluate your dog to see what we will need to do to get him where you would like him to be. At that point, we will be able to give you a timeline for his training.
