Mike
Owner
Mike owns The Dog Wizard St Johns of Northeast Florida and is a lifelong dog dad. He served in the US Navy for 30 years, has a BS in Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, studied national security affairs and international security studies at the Naval Postgraduate School, and attended command and staff school at the Naval War College.
After leaving military service, Mike entered the defense and aerospace corporate world, and earned an MBA, focused on Strategic Leadership, from the University of New Haven. He then worked as a program manager on the Presidential Helicopter Program with Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin company. After his time with Sikorsky, Mike relocated from Connecticut to Florida to open The Dog Wizard St Johns, be closer to the families of his two adult children, and trade corporate life for a full-time entrepreneurial dog dad life.
Mike's passion for dogs, desire to service his community, and a strong calling to once again work in the open air have led him to a new career with our four-legged furry friends, wagging tails, and other dog dads and moms who share a similar passion. His goal is to share the benefits we all get when we join human and dog lives in ways that allow us to share as many experiences with our dogs as feasible, something that starts with an obedient dog. Mike's vision for The Dog Wizard is focused on serving our Northeast Florida community in multiple ways, starting by making dog ownership easier and more enjoyable while also making dogs'' lives better.
Tania Wood
Director
Tania Wood, the Director of The Dog Wizard St. Johns, has a long-standing friendship with the owner, Mike, and a lifetime of love for dogs.
Prior to The Dog Wizard, Tania enjoyed an exciting career in Emergency Medical Services (EMS), demonstrating a desire to serve her fellow hoomans. She now contributes her expertise to the American Red Cross as a BLS Instructor Trainer, shaping the next generation of lifesaving professionals and lay responders.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Tania's personal life reflects her nurturing nature. She is a (retired) military wife & mother to four amazing children, nurturing their growth with the same dedication she brings to her work. Tania's family extends beyond human bounds, as she proudly embraces the role of a devoted "dog mum" to a lively pack of five, encompassing a delightful mix of small (but mighty!) breeds.
Tania joined The Dog Wizard pack to channel her love for dogs into a career where she could make a tangible difference in their and their human's lives, while continuing to learn and grow alongside her fluffy companions. With her enthusiasm and love for all things canine, Tania Wood makes every day a tail-wagging adventure!
Mallory Moore
Lead Trainer
Mallory is an animal lover whose priority is helping clients and their dogs live a happier, more successful life!
With a lifelong passion for animals, Mallory's journey into dog training began at a young age. Starting as a dedicated volunteer at local shelters, and a wildlife rescue, Mallory later progressed to become a kennel technician, accumulating invaluable hands-on experience in animal care and behavior. In May of 2022, she fortified her expertise by earning a Bachelor's degree in Animal Behavior from the University of North Florida.
This educational background, coupled with her practical experience through the Dog Wizard, forms the foundation of Mallory's nuanced approach to dog training. She seamlessly integrates balanced techniques catered to the individual needs of both her client and their canine companions. Mallory continues to broaden her horizons through education and professional development with the goal of helping owners live a well rounded life with their fur babies!

Working from home made it especially tough, and every day felt like a challenge just trying to get him to relax. BUT Chuy has a new lease on life and he is so confident in himself these days!!! He can finally relax at home, he knows the expectations and routine, so he is much more settled than before. He is no longer excessively barking and his reactivity to other dogs/humans in public is minimal—only requiring a small redirection infrequently. He has been able to greet other humans on our walks and allows them to pet him. He no longer targets the other dog in the home. He has also started to play with his toys again. He is not resource guarding toys or furniture. We continue to work on all skills we have learned and use them in public settings. We had our first lunch on a dog friendly patio today and went to the beach. We got so many compliments on how well behaved and sweet Chuy was (and his brother too). People and dogs walked by us, but using our tools and commands—he ignored almost all of them. I cannot recommend the Dog Wizard St Johns Fl enough. MALLORY was such an amazing gem to us and I am excited to take advantage of continued support in the coming months.
